Into the Wild

Into the Wild - Erin Hunter, Erin Hunter I have to admit I was undecided about this book series for a very long time. Being a cat-lover, I was always curious about the stories, and would often pick it up, read the back cover, and even flip through it in book stores, but I also knew it was geared towards kids and was unsure if it would be stimulating enough for me. Finally I decided to bite the bullet and give the first book of the series a shot; after all the Harry Potter series was written for children and is to this day my favorite book series of all time!

I have to say I am pleasantly surprised, it definitely doesn't come close to the Harry Potter series, or Twilight or LOTR, but it's still a light, easy read, and pleasant for a cat lover like myself. It all starts with a seemingly ordinary house-cat being approached by a clan of wild, warrior cats. The cats have a warrior code, tons of rules, and grueling training to submit to for any cat wishing to be a part of the clan....needless to say tons of adventures and action takes place.

I have to say that on top of finding the story amusing and entertaining, you can tell that the author loves cats, and the richly imagined world she lays out for the reader had me more than one time gaze over curiously at my own 3 cats, wondering what mysteries are hidden behind their knowing eyes and keen senses.

I look forward to reading the next book in the series, many questions were left unanswered, and, like a cat, my curiosity has gotten the best of me ;)
